High School
Our students are independent and motivated young people who not only strive for high academic results but also become responsible members of the community. Karalienės Mortos mokykla nurtures young individuals as global citizens, helping them develop the understanding that learning is a lifelong process by raising complex questions and seeking answers.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a programme valued by both Lithuanian and global universities and employers. The programme is designed for eleventh and twelfth graders. In these grades, students learn in English according to the internationally recognized IB programme, take standardized tests and exams, just like students in other IB schools around the world.
Students holding an International Baccalaureate diploma are academically strong, demonstrate analytical thinking, are persistent, possess excellent learning skills, and have a strong sense of social responsibility. The knowledge and competencies gained during the programme enable students to continue their studies at the best international or Lithuanian higher education institutions.
KMM High School in Vilnius welcomes students from grades 9–12, while Kaunas accepts 9-10 graders.

Karalienes Mortos mokykla is a Candidate School* for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Karalienes Mortos mokykla believes is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org.

Karalienės Mortos mokykla has an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) – we have been successfully teaching 11th and 12th grade students under this programme since 2021.

The IB diploma programme is developed by international experts who set the standards for all subjects. The programme is continually updated to reflect the latest research findings, international developments, and feedback and ideas from teachers around the world who teach under this programme.
Graduating with an IB diploma offers broader opportunities than a national high school diploma. A student who successfully completes the IB diploma programme is highly sought after by the best foreign universities, as the IB diploma is recognized as meeting a high-quality, internationally recognized education standard. Research has shown that IB DP students demonstrate better preparation for university studies and are more adaptable to the demands placed on university students.
Students who are proficient in English have access to a wide range of informational resources, communicate effectively, engage in international issues, and have a broader choice of study options after school.
This dynamic programme sets high academic expectations for students, encourages them to embrace new experiences, step outside their comfort zone, set goals, and not fear mistakes and challenges.
The IB DP provides the opportunity to choose subjects based on their interests, academic ambitions, or identified personal strengths.
The programme requires high motivation, academic perseverance, and engagement, but it also aims to ensure a balance between academic and other activities, providing opportunities for creative work, self-development, and responsible involvement in local and international community activities.
IB DP students possess better critical thinking abilities, are highly literate and academically knowledgeable, learn to commit and persist in achieving their goals, learn from their mistakes, and have excellent time management skills. They learn to seek creative and innovative solutions, communicate openly, and collaborate effectively.
Thanks to its dynamism, consistent learning, and high academic expectations, the programme significantly strengthens students’ ability to learn independently, solidifies exceptional learning skills, and cultivates students’ work ethic and personal responsibility.
Preparation for studying the IB Diploma Programme
In grades 9-10, we follow the Lithuanian general education curriculum, supplemented with elements of the International Baccalaureate programme. We integrate different subjects into a unified whole, allowing us to choose broad themes that encompass all or most disciplines.
This integration of programmes presents high academic challenges for students, encourages them to step outside their comfort zone, learn from mistakes, and prepare to study in grades 11-12 according to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
Through this approach, students learn to compare, analyze, generalize, think critically, communicate and collaborate effectively, seek innovative solutions, and gain a broader perspective on both their environment and global phenomena. We place special emphasis on the goal of “teaching how to learn,” so teachers use active learning methods, and students gain not only knowledge but also skills.
