Community

It is important for every community to have a description of its operations and rules. At Queen Morta School, this takes the form of the Community Book. Following the internal rules at Queen Morta School is mandatory for all members of the community: those who work here, study here, and bring their children here.

The Community Book is a living document that is reviewed, edited, updated each year—and some things may be removed as well.

In the 2025/2026 academic year Community Book, you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions at school, as well as an outline of our school’s procedures and rules. Let’s follow these rules and ensure that others do as well—after all, we are building this community together!

Let us grow to be CREATIVE, RESILIENT, COURAGEOUS, COMPASSIONATE, and RESPECTFUL.

  • At Queen Morta School, we are all members of the community — students, educators, and parents alike.
  • We, as a community, are partners committed to creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming learning environment, where every individual’s potential can unfold freely in an atmosphere of mutual respect. We foster the understanding that all members of the school community have equal rights and are equally important.
  • Undoubtedly, an effective partnership requires clearly defined responsibilities, collaboration, vibrant communication, mutual respect, and a shared vision.
  • We are citizens of the world, and through our actions at school, we aim to contribute to building a better world. In both the educational process and the life of our school community, we strive to achieve the #GlobalGoals, placing special emphasis on creating a sustainable environment and protecting nature.
  • We believe that the goals of our community will provide a foundation for effective and enjoyable communication and will serve as a practical tool for implementing our policy of promoting respect.
  • Community Goals:
    • To foster a spirit of community;
    • To strengthen the partnership between school and home;
    • To provide comprehensive support to the school in ensuring high-quality education.
  • Teachers are the ambassadors of Queen Morta School — our future is entrusted to their hands in the classroom.
  • We select our teachers with great care. It is important to us that they are professionals in their field, that they respect every child and family, can share ideas and work as a team, stay up to date with educational innovations, and, of course, strive to change the world.
  • We place high value on the continuous development of our teachers. All educators at Queen Morta School stay informed about the latest research and take part in our internal Teachers’ Academy — a series of ongoing professional development sessions held regularly.
  • Teachers also participate in professional training organized both by the school and by visiting experts from Lithuania and abroad. We collaborate with schools in Sweden, Finland, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, and the United States. Our educators are active not only in teaching but also in academic and research work.

Morta’s Kindness Project is a voluntary initiative led by the families of Queen Morta School in Kaunas, and everyone is welcome to participate. You can either create your own initiative or join an existing one.

Each year, we ask the children what they enjoyed, what they would like to do, and what ideas or wishes they have for good deeds—and together with them, we continue to grow and develop the project.

  • The Student Parliament of Queen Morta School represents students’ freedom and right to participate in the democratic governance of the school. It advocates for and protects students’ rights and interests, makes decisions of importance to the community, and contributes to shaping a positive school environment. Through this, we nurture future leaders, encourage civic engagement, develop collective and social responsibility, and help students gain valuable communication and collaboration experience.
  • Students from the middle and upper school elect the Student Parliament for a one-year term. In the middle school, students also elect a Student President.
  • The decisions of the Student Parliament must not contradict the school’s values or internal rules.
  • Members of the Student Parliament express their goals and ambitions for the benefit of the school, lead by example, and become ambassadors of the school.
  • Principles of the Student Parliament:
    • Collaboration – we work with all members of the school community to grow and learn from one another.
    • Accessibility & Openness – we are open to suggestions and ideas, and we support those in need.
    • Democracy – everyone has the right to express their opinion.
    • Responsibility – we complete assigned tasks on time.
    • Equality – all members of the Student Parliament have equal rights, and no member is above any other student.
    • Accountability – we share our achievements publicly and report to the designated responsible person.

The Advisory Board is a collegial consultative body of Queen Morta School, chaired by the head of the respective school department.

  • The Advisory Board provides recommendations on matters related to the daily operations of the school and other issues presented by the school administration.
  • The Advisory Board does not make decisions regarding the admission of students, teachers, or administrative staff, the organization of their work, the approval of job positions, salaries, or evaluations; it also does not address school financial or administrative matters, including setting fees; academic content (such as curricula, academic projects, textbook purchases, etc.); or the establishment, reorganization, or closure of school departments.
  • The Advisory Board consists of representatives from the school, parents of students, and/or independent community members (such as sponsors, benefactors, or other individuals who have contributed to the school).
  • Participation in the Advisory Board is voluntary and unpaid.
