A group of Queen Morta School (QMS) 7th and 8th-grade students spent the past week at Futuraskolan International Bergtorp School in Sweden as part of the Nordplus project.

The visit to Sweden was a true journey of impressions and discoveries, which will remain in the memories of both students and teachers for a long time. From the very first activities, where they explored the similarities and differences between the languages, traditions, food, and cultures of Lithuania and Sweden, it became clear that this experience would enrich not only their knowledge but also their interpersonal connections.

Although the trip lasted only a week, the experiences were countless. Visits to the Vasa and Nordic museums allowed students to learn more about the history and traditions of the Nordic countries, while active activities in the Old Town of Stockholm revealed new ways to explore the city – students walked through the streets of the Old Town as if traveling through time. Engaging storytelling by the guide at the Royal Cathedral invited them to immerse themselves in the grand past, while lunch in the old cellars of Stockholm gave them a sense of being part of a special history. In the afternoon, students participated in language activities: they wrote letters in English, which were then translated into Lithuanian and Swedish. This task not only strengthened their language skills but also made them realize the importance of language in intercultural communication.

The trip was not just about culture or history, but also about human connections. Language tasks and warm moments with local families enriched our students’ experiences, allowed them to improve their language skills, and deepened their understanding of the importance of intercultural communication. On the way home, the students shared their impressions, discussing what they had learned and felt – about cultural differences, similarities, and how important it is to be curious and open to new experiences. We returned home not only with knowledge but also with inspiration — to explore, learn, and build connections with the world. This was a journey that symbolized friendship and opened the way to new opportunities. Now, we look forward to welcoming the Swedish students who will dive into Lithuanian culture.
