We were the first in Lithuania to begin teaching in context, and we systematically and holistically educate according to the principles of contextual education developed by Austėja Landsbergienė, PhD.
THE CHILD
At the center of the educational process is always the child. We teach the child, not the subjects. The educational process is tailored to each child’s needs and is planned considering the context of the child’s environment and the specific characteristics of their developmental stage.
EDUCATORS: parents, teachers, specialists, and the environment. All the people who help the child grow and the environment in which they grow shape the child’s outlook, provide as many opportunities for development as possible, and set high expectations.
COMPETENCIES
Competencies are skills that help children become successful in a future full of change and challenges. We focus on developing: character, adaptability, digital literacy, global thinking, problem-solving ability, communication skills, and innovative thinking.
DEVELOPING ACTIVITIES
Competencies are developed systematically, creatively, and playfully through interconnected activities, giving the child the opportunity to try and express themselves in various areas while learning through active engagement.
Since the 2022-2023 academic year, the school’s contextual education programme has been supplemented with financial literacy and entrepreneurship education components. Students, according to their developmental stage, will explore business and economics, as well as vocational training. They will learn economics through play and acquire the basics of entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
The contextual education programme will also be supplemented by the gradual development and strengthening of public speaking skills. Public speaking improves overall communication skills, boosts self-esteem and self-confidence, helps in organizing and managing thoughts, expressing ideas in front of the class, and develops leadership skills. This is a very important skill that needs to be learned and mastered. It is one of the skills that will support them throughout their learning journey and professional careers.

We follow the Lithuanian primary education curriculum. We place special emphasis on the goal of “teaching how to learn,” so students not only learn the subject matter but also the methods of learning themselves.
We explore the environment through discussions, raising questions, experiences, and creativity. Contextual education emphasizes a holistic approach to understanding world phenomena, which radically differs from teaching unrelated facts.
We learn not through individual lessons, but through themes. We thoroughly discuss the same topic in math, Lithuanian language, world studies, music, and even physical education classes. This helps students better internalize the knowledge, which they can more effectively apply and use in real life.
We connect different subjects into a unified whole. This allows us to choose broad themes that cover most disciplines. By learning this way, children learn to compare, analyze, generalize, develop a broader perspective on phenomena, and think critically.
We apply active learning methods: engaging lectures, reading, interviews, class and group discussions, independent work in small groups, experiential exercises, brainstorming, self-directed learning, and many others. By learning in this way, children more easily solidify information, acquire knowledge and skills to think critically, and apply their knowledge in both familiar and unexpected situations.
We foster relationships between children and adults based on mutual respect. The core principle of positive discipline is to educate and guide by encouraging, rather than punishing.
Values are the foundation of the Queen Morta School community. We nurture creative, respectful, brave, strong, and compassionate individuals.
We develop critical thinking so that children are able to think critically, analyze and evaluate situations from multiple perspectives, and choose a reasoned position on any issue.
We were the first to introduce “Junior Achievement” lessons at all educational levels — we teach entrepreneurship from pre-school through to graduation.
We educate everywhere: in the classroom, in the yard, in parks, in museums, on trips, and in the virtual space.
We are the first in Lithuania to include debate and public speaking lessons in the formal education curriculum starting from the 2022/2023 academic year.

Queen Morta Private Primary School invites children aged 5 to 11, from preschool to fifth grade, to study. Starting from preschool, we educate not only according to the National General Education Curriculum but also based on the teaching standards set by the Cambridge Primary School programme. The unique Cambridge Primary programme has been developed in collaboration with globally recognized education experts and the world’s leading universities. Queen Morta Private Primary School guarantees an education quality that meets Cambridge standards and ensures the implementation of scientifically validated requirements.
The Cambridge educational programmes have clear guidelines, established standards, and an assessment system. Teachers are provided with comprehensive materials to effectively plan and implement the Cambridge programmes in English, mathematics, and science. The programme is designed in such a way that teachers can take into account both the strengths and weaknesses of individual students and the whole class.
The achievement assessment standards ensure that students’ performance results are reliable and objective, meeting global standards. Internationally recognized tests are used to measure achievements, which provides additional confidence to parents regarding the objectivity and reliability of the assessments. The school offers two assessment options — the Cambridge Progress Checker progress tests and the Cambridge Checkpoint exam. Upon completing fifth grade, our students take the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint exams in English, mathematics, and science. Students who pass the exams are awarded international certificates.
Cambridge continually improves its educational programmes, updating supporting materials for teachers twice a year. It regularly organizes international education conferences, and teachers and school leaders consistently enhance their skills, sharing their practices and knowledge with other Cambridge schools worldwide.
As part of the international Cambridge educational community, Queen Morta School collaborates closely with international education professionals and leaders, receiving comprehensive support in integrating educational programmes, bilingual practices, and daily operations. This includes developing curricula, assessment systems, ensuring teacher qualifications, setting up classrooms (learning environments), and benefiting from best practices and ideas from other Cambridge schools, teachers, and students worldwide.

Civic engagement
All classes at Queen Morta School are named after prominent historical figures from Lithuania. We actively celebrate national holidays and, every Monday during homeroom time, we sing the national anthem together.
International context
In our classrooms, we discuss current global events and create projects about representatives of various international organizations or individuals who have changed history — those who fought for equal rights, freedom of speech, democracy, and more.
Social projects
We organize conferences on topics such as education and development, promoting girls’ leadership, and the education of children with special needs.
Experiential learning
We enrich all topics with field trips, project-based tasks, and experiments. Children learn through experiences.
Continuous change and development
The world is changing. We change along with it. Constantly and inevitably.
Reading books
We read every day! We help children choose what truly interests them, is useful, and makes the reading process effective. Everything we read is discussed afterward! The key is not to read mechanically, but to understand, analyze, and discuss.
No bullying zone
Bullying is a taboo in our school. A no-bullying zone operates throughout the entire school. The school’s educators and psychologists regularly talk to the children about the harm that physical and emotional violence causes to a person.
Emotional education
It is the ability to manage one’s feelings. It is important to us not only to provide the child with knowledge but also to constantly develop their emotional intelligence and teach them how to adapt well to a world that is not always friendly.
Teacher Academy
All of our educators constantly stay updated on the latest research and participate in the internal “Teacher Academy” – ongoing professional development sessions that take place periodically.
We care for the environment
We sort waste and conserve natural resources. Together with the community, we organize a Flea Market, where we sell or donate unwanted but still useful items, thus reducing excessive consumption.
