Karalienės Mortos mokykla had the honor of welcoming the newly appointed Ambassador of Spain to Lithuania, Fernando Fernández-Aguayo. The purpose of the visit was to meet the school community, discuss collaborative initiatives, and explore opportunities for future cultural and educational cooperation. This meeting marked another step in strengthening the school’s international partnerships and expanding students’ opportunities to experience diverse cultures.

The Ambassador was greeted by the School Director Tomas Deržanauskas, Middle School Principal Lina Jazgevičienė, Primary School Principal Donatas Kubilius, Director of Business Development and Innovation Deimantė Žebrauskaitė, and Patricija Kublickaitė, Spanish language teacher of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme and Head of the Languages Department.

During the meeting, discussions revolved around supporting and fostering Spanish language and culture in Lithuania, while the school team shared its future plans. Karalienės Mortos mokykla is an accredited DELE examination center, where the first official Spanish language exams took place in May 2025. The next session is planned for spring 2026, with an even larger number of students from across Lithuania expected to participate.

“We are delighted that our students have the opportunity to explore the Spanish language and culture within our school. We are eager to take part in and support the Embassy’s initiatives that foster the appreciation of Spanish culture in Lithuania,” said Tomas Deržanauskas, Director of Karalienės Mortos mokykla.

The visit also opened discussions on strengthening partnerships with educational institutions in Spain, organizing teacher exchange programs and professional development opportunities, as well as expanding student exchange programs. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to building a lasting partnership that will enrich students’ linguistic skills and cultural experiences, fostering a deeper appreciation of Spanish language and traditions in Lithuania.
